Understand different properties of whole number and integer operations

Overview

Addition and subtraction operations have characteristic properties.  For instance, addition and subtraction are inverse operations.  And an operation is commutative on a set if the same result is obtained regardless of the order in which the set elements are used.  This section summarizes these properties.
